Take action...

No human on this planet is without setbacks. The actual problem is not the setbacks, but our response to them. But you will be amazed to hear that more than 50% of people believe that it is the end and so, they quit. But this is not true. I can say it with full authority as I have experienced this in my life.

Today when I look at my journey over my lifetime, I can say that the setbacks we face in life will always leave us somehow better off than we were earlier. I believe that everything happens for a good reason. Failures in business, no job promotion, break-ups, heartbreaks, etc. Here's an example of what I mean. I was doing design work for the High-Tech industry in Silicon Valley. I eventually started my own business designing and manufacturing products for various tech companies. For this, I had to be on the road a lot. After some time it became hectic for me. Then the 2008 recession hit and very soon after my business went away and I had to shut down and take a loss. I needed to take action and not doubt myself or be fearful and get on with my life.

Prior to that most of my life, I was and am still a professional musician with a lot of experience over many years. I didn't know what to do for work and my wife was the one who suggested since I love music so much but didn't want to go back to playing full time, why don't I get a job in radio at the classic rock station in our area. Genius!! It was a tough change at first but I did it and was successful at it. I stayed in radio in the S.F. Bay Area for 8 years until we moved and I retired, sort of.

Here's another example, it's been almost 10 years since my stroke. I was not given much of a chance of survival the first couple of days in the hospital but I've always been a fighter and knew that even though I was paralyzed on my right side I would never give up! Again, I had to take action! I went to physical therapy for months and worked very hard. Although I still have paralysis on my right side and walk with a cane and foot brace, I'm getting around better than I thought I would at first. A little over a year ago COVID hit me and hit me hard! I was given 7-8 days to live or I could go on the ventilator, but they couldn't promise me anything. My wife and I had to make that scary and tough decision which we did, and I spent 8 days on the ventilator, I thank God every day I survived. So back to learning how to walk again with my cane and working hard on getting my lungs back in shape, seven months later I'm doing fine and even singing again on stage with my great band!! Now, whenever I face any setback in life I always have a positive perception.

Such setbacks sometimes create self-doubt and it further turns into fear. So to overcome, it is the ACTION that's required. When you act, your mind doesn’t think much of disappointment and has no chance of fear at all. Stand tall against those setbacks and take action knowing that you have what it takes to be an overcomer! I wish you the very best in life as always. God Bless.
